Hand over a class and keep oversight

Use the existing class so students keep their accounts, projects and learning history. The incoming teacher gets teacher access; you remain the owner and can support the same students.

Owner checklist

  1. Open the school that already contains the class. Check the class name and student list.
  2. Add the colleague as a Teacher, within the workspace's teacher limit. In a School workspace, use Teachers / invitations. Share the invitation link yourself; it is not emailed automatically.
  3. In My classes → Classes, open the existing class and select the incoming teacher as its teacher. Save the change. If your plan does not show the teacher controls, contact the school owner/platform support before changing plans or making another class.
  4. Share the required school materials with the teacher. On a School plan, use the material-access controls in school management. Include the next lesson and any supporting plans.
  5. Have the teacher sign in with their own account and check the class, students and next activity.
  6. Open the same class from your owner account to verify your continuing access.

A class has one assigned teacher. Replacing an ordinary teacher removes that teacher's class access. An owner retains access to all classes without being the assigned teacher. Two ordinary teachers cannot currently be assigned to the same class.

Agree on the next lesson

Share the last topic covered, the next activity, unfinished work, any students needing help and the agreed way to reach you. Use your school's private channel for student-specific information.

Bring in a beta tester

Give the tester standard teacher access and a dedicated test class unless they are meant to teach real students. Share only the materials they need. Use fictional student accounts for testing. Do not replace the main class's teacher just to run a test.

Ask the tester to report: the task they attempted, the steps taken, what they expected and what happened. Include the page name and device. Remove student names and private work from screenshots before sharing them outside the school.

Verify together

  • Incoming teacher sees the expected class and students.
  • Needed materials are visible and can be assigned.
  • The owner can still open the class and review work.
  • The teacher cannot open billing or change other teachers' roles.
  • Students keep their existing accounts and work.
